Teignmouthen jaio zen Frances Sally Irwin eta Edwin-Toby Caulfeilden familian[1]. Aita familia noble bateko adar txiki batekoa zen. Birraitona William Caulfeild zen, Charlemonteko 2. bizkondea. Amaren aldeko aitona Eyles Irwin irlandar poeta zen. Louisa Lavinia izeneko ahizpa eta Henry Cope Caulfeild izeneko neba zituen[2].
Caulfeild Londresera joan zen bizitzera. Ez zen inoiz ezkondu[1].
