1970eko hamarkadan Dr. Feelgood pub rock taldeko kidea izan zen. Gitarra jotzeko duen estilo bereizgarriagatik nabarmendu zen, plektroa erabili gabe. 1977an Solid Senders taldea sortu zuen eta 1980an Ian Duryren taldean sartu zen.
Aktore ere izan zen eta Game of Thrones telesailean Ser Ilyn Payne borreroaren papera jokatu zuen.
