There is only one copyright notice on the dust jacket, namely "PHOTO BY © LAWRENCE ROBINS 1978". The notice applies only to the photo itself and not the dust jacket as a whole because the jacket is not a collective work. The excerpt on the back cover of the jacket is from the literary work The Stand (1978) by Stephen King. There is a copyright registration for the literary work with registration number TX0000141312. Thus the excerpt may still be copyrighted despite the lack of a copyright notice for it on the jacket. Thus the excerpt is blurred as well.

There is only one copyright registration under the name John Cayea, namely TX0001049162. It is a registration for drawings by John Cayea, as well as text by Tristan Jones, for a work titled "A Steady trade : a boyhood at sea"

Thus the remaining unblurred portions are in the public domain in the US.
