| Deskribapena | Remarkably, this Soldanella is actually a bit of a rampant coloniser and threatens several smaller neighbours (but not the Andromeda in the foreground, which is equally vigorous) Soldanellas are not generally known for this sort of behaviour. It also flowers freely every year. The soil is very peaty and damp but held up above the surrounding soggy clay in a rocky raised bed - so moist but freely drained. The site is not overshadowed but is surrounded by mature trees so the atmosphere is bright but always cool and humid, which is evidently what they like... |
