English: A notice states this is one of the most important products of goldsmithing during the Bronze Age, it is estimated to be from 1000 BC. It is unknown where it stems from, probably southern Germany. It was bought in 1996 from the antique trade in order to make it available for future generations and show it to the public. By then three of these Gold Hats were known, two of them from South Germany, one from France. It is supposed this hat also stems from north of the Alps. Just a few finds from the Bronze Age provide so much insight into the symbolism of ruling, religious imagery and technical mastery. The ornamentation is particularly fascinating. A complicated system of numbers is hidden in it, allowing calendar calculations, in particular regarding the 19-yearly cycle of sun and moon.
