English: A new map of North America, agreeable to the latest discoveries i.e. political map of North America from the 1817 edition of a 1777 book entitled The History of America : including the history of Virginia to the year 1688, and New England to the year 1652... edited by William Robertson and printed by Augustus Applegath and Henry Mitton.
The map has been hand colored to indicate Spanish possessions in yellow, British ones in pink and the independent United States in blue. The author of the coloring ignored the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, and the Spanish cession of that territory to France in 1802.
