Deutsch: Das Andreaskreuz im Wappen deutet auf den Patron der Velmeder Pfarrkirche, den Apostel Andreas, hin. Die Farben Silber und Blau repräsentieren die Zugehörigkeit zur ehemaligen Grafschaft Arnsberg. Die amtliche Genehmigung erfolgte am 25. Februar 1977.[1]
