Biografia aldatu
Antzerkian ari izan zen, eta 1932an hasi zen zineman lanean film laburrak eginez. Hasieran emagalduen pertsonaiak antzeztu zituen film batzuetan, haien artean ospetsuena John Forden The Stagecoach (1939, Diligentzia) izan zelarik. 1948an bigarren mailako antzezle onenari ematen zaion Oscar Saria jaso zuen John Hustonen Key Largo filmean egindako antzezpenagatik. Film asko antzeztu zituen, besteak beste: Dead End (1937), Dark Command (1940), Farewell My Lovely (1944, Agur, maitea), Born to Kill (1947, Hiltzeko jaioa), Key Largo (1948, Largo lurmuturra), The High and the Mighty (1954), Man Without a Star (1955), How to Murder Your Wife (1965, Zure emaztea nola hil).
